Scott Bartlett and Saving Abel back home from Kuwait and India

It’s been a busy couple of months for Scott & Saving Abel.  They were requested to perform in Kuwait for the troops, which they did in February, then jetted to New Delhi, India to perform at the Hard Rock.  Now, they’re back in the states and ready to rock for the fans stateside.  The month of March has already been a whirlwind with performances back to back all over the southern region.

We caught up with the co-founder of TATCO to find out what his take was about his experience abroad and his plans for TAT Co in the near future after the Minerva Fest performance in Tupelo, MS.

TAT Co:                 So what was Kuwait like, man?

Bartlett:              Eye opening.  You think that you’ve got it tough, and then you go and see these guys selflessly serving their country.  It gives you a new perspective on things.  They were so appreciative of us and vice versa.  It was a real honor to go over there, because they requested us.  We performed for them the entire time, minus two shows that were cancelled due to sand storms.

TAT Co:                 What was one of your cooler experiences while there?

Bartlett:               There were so many, but one night I actually ran into some guys from the AirForce who were from Memphis.  That blew my mind.  I had a backpack that was full of TAT Co gear that I was going to pass out that day, but I just gave the guys the entire thing – backpack   and all.  My thought was what were the odds that I’d run into some guys from Memphis.

TAT Co:                 Tell us about New Delhi.  Was that your first time there?

Bartlett:              Yes, it was the entire band’s first time there.  Two years ago, none of us had any idea that we were going to be performing in such a cool place.  It was awesome.

TAT Co:                 Coming back home after a shows like that, did you experience some brief culture shock?

Bartlett:               A stage is a stage.  People are people.  I just hope that they all buy the records and by my shirts.

TAT Co:                 Let’s talk TAT Co & Saving Abel for a minute. What are your thoughts in the middle of the success of both businesses?

Bartlett:              Well, I have a unique position in both Saving Abel and TATCo.  I’m one of the founding members of both.  So, they both mean a lot to me.  You can see that the music is translated into the clothes.  We try to provide the best quality in both.

TAT Co:                 Tell us something that we didn’t know.

Bartlett:             Last year, unfortunately there were 9 million illegal downloads of our music.  We love the idea that we have fans, but we want them to do it the right way.  This is our craft, and we work really hard at it. That said, the new album is due out soon, and it’s a smash.  So, we know our fans will be pleased and we want them to come out and  support us.  Just the right way.  I mean, I know I’ve put in the work.  I want to see it continue to thrive.

Check out Saving Abel for the rest of the month in the following venues as they continue their tour.  Also, don’t forget to check the TAT Co website and this blog for new updates regarding the clothing lines and artists.

Saving Abel’s Bartlett brings chart topping band to B’more to rock the Recher

In their first headlining tour, ‘Class of 2009,’ Billboard chart-topper Saving Abel arrives in Baltimore tomorrow (Nov. 24) night. The group is scheduled to perform at the Recher Theatre in Towson.

For one of the band’s most popular members, the performance is a reminder of his roots. Scott Bartlett, Saving Abel lead guitarist and co-founder of the alternative clothing line TATCo, is a son of Charm City.

One of the nation’s most promising new musicians, Bartlett and his band members have reached new heights in the last year. They are the first act in more than three years to have three, top five rock hits come from their debut release. The band’s debut singles” Addicted,” “18 Days,” and “Drowning (Face Down)” have delivered a massive fan base. Saving Abel’s biggest hit, “Addicted,” was a #1 rock hit, then crossed over to peak at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top 40 Airplay Chart and has sold over a million downloads.

“While I’m home, I’ll speak to the guys at my alma mater, Gilman High School, and give a guitar master class, answer Q&A and give the students insight about entering the entertainment industry,” Bartlett said recently. “After that, I plan to make visits around the city to the places that have made me who I am today. It’s always good to return back to Baltimore, where it all began for me. It’s a reminder of my rock roots and my love for music.”

On top of the rising musical career, Bartlett is also engaged in a new clothing venture. “It’s a growing brand,” Bartlett said of TAT Co. “We started out with just a few orders a month and now we’ve seen dramatic interest in the clothing line by fans of the music and by fans of quality original clothing. Nothing about my music or my clothing is cookie cutter. It’s all about making a new statement regardless of your background. TAT Co does that.”

During his time at Gilman, Bartlett built his first guitar, a “flying V”. He was also the Maryland State Bench Press Champion his senior year at the school.

TAT CO WEBSITE UP AND READY TO TAKE ORDERS FROM CUSTOMERS

The Gorge in George, WA

The Gorge in George, WA

(September 14, 2009 – Memphis, TENN)  All across the nation, there has been a buzz about a new clothing line that hit the fashion scene in early May 2009.  TAT Co, The Artist Tattoo Company, is the creation of lead guitarist, Scott Bartlett of Saving Abel and close friends from Memphis.  The soft launch occurred at The Baer’s Den in Memphis, TN during the Memphis In May festival and since has been followed by several successful trunk shows coast to coast.  However today, the company launched its official site at www.tatcodesign.com with the ability to order all the new lines from today’s hottest stars.

“I’m in the military so my uniform is set,” said Mark McClousky, a faithful customer from Camp Lejeune, NC. “But I look forward to going out and wearing my TAT Co gear on the town after hours.  Everyone always asks me where I get my clothes.  It’s awesome.  Now, instead of getting my clothes from trunk shows, I can order them online and have them dropped at my barracks. ”

With little formal marketing and tons of word-of-mouth referrals, the company has secured members from Shinedown and Buckcherry who have developed their own lines within TAT Co. The Artist Tattoo Company has a laundry list of diversified customers nationwide who range from business owners, executives and athletes to military, band members and college students.  The word continues to spread with the constant appearance of TAT Co on the stage and on television.  Earlier this month, Zack Myers of Shinedown showcased a piece from his line on the Today Show as well as in the bands newest video for the hit single If You Only Knew.  In the last few months, Scott Bartlett showcased his line in the last Saving Abel Video 18 days.  Both men wear TAT Co on stage in front of thousands of fans.

“This is a big day for TAT Co,” said Bartlett.  “We’ve been working around the clock to develop a state-of-the art website that gives customers all the inside information on the different lines, the designers and the music.  TAT Co is the perfect marriage of rock fashion and rock music.”

For more information about TAT Co or to order from the line, please visit the web site at www.tatcodesign.com
